When the teaser of Adipurush was released earlier this year, it was received with a lot of negative comments and criticism of the visual effects and VFX, which seemed amateurish. Earlier this week, a YouTuber with a penchant for visual effects work recreated a scene from the teaser and was met with praise. Many viewers even advised him to redo the whole movie himself. YouTuber and visual effects artiste Kunwar (@itx_kunwar) posted a short video on Friday on his Instagram account wherein he recreated Prabhas’ underwater scene from the Adipurush teaser. The video begins with a glimpse of the scene, as seen in the teaser. Next, Kunwar explains that he made a 3D scan of himself using the Kiri engine, following which he made edits in Blender. He then shares his version of the scene, which appears very similar to the one used in the teaser in tone and even finesse.

In fact, many viewers felt Kunwar’s attempt was better than the film, which reportedly has a massive budget of 500 crore. One wrote, “This edit seems more beautiful than 500cr effort.” Another concurred, “This is much better than the actual one.” A comment read, ““Ek YouTuber hi aadipurush ki puri VXF team se acha kaam kar leta hai (One YouTuber does better work than the whole team of Adipurush).” Several followers urged him to contact the makers of the film and offer his services. One comment read, “Revfx whole movie ppl will happily give ticket money to watch your movie.” In a larger video posted on YouTube last week, Kunwar explained what faults he found in the original teaser and showed how he corrected them in his recreation.

The teaser of Adipurush was launched on October 3. After the disappointing response to it, the team responded by saying that they were taking feedback. On November 7, the makers pushed the release of the film back from January to June 2023, saying they needed more time to work on the visuals. “In order to give a complete visual experience to the viewers, we need to give more time to the teams working on the film,” read a note from director Om Raut. Unconfirmed reports have since stated that the film’s release may be further pushed to 2024 now. However, there has been no confirmation about this.

Adipurush is based on Ramayana with Prabhas playing Raghava (based on Lord Ram) and Saif Ali Khan playing Lankesh (based on Ravana). Kriti Sanon and Sunny Singh star as Sita and Lakshman respectively. The film is touted to be one of the most expensive Indian films ever made.
