YouTube Music Summer Recap is being rolled out to some users: Here’s how it works | Digit
After the first season recap came out in June, YouTube Music is now starting to roll out the Summer edition.
Google is launching a new 2022 Recap for subscribers of YouTube Music just in time for summer. The new experience is here because Google seems to have heard good things about its 2021 Recap.
The Recap 2022 will have a personal playlist; users can easily share their playlist and stats with their friends. However, this is available in select markets only, it seems. In a YouTube Premium email this week, YouTube Music said that the Summer Recaps were “coming soon,” and now the first members are seeing it.
Spotify’s annual recaps are a fun shared experience on the internet because it’s fun to see — or judge — what music people listen to the most. YouTube is trying to get people to share their experiences more often.
Like before, you might first see it as a “Summer Recap is here” card in your Home feed that says, “Replay your top music and stats of summer.” Still, the first users only get a playlist called “Your Recap,” with about 50 songs.
The carousel of stat cards that can be saved and shared easily has not apparently yet shown up for the users. You will get the top five songs, artists, playlists, albums, and genres at the end (only three).
You can also check for your Summer Recap by tapping your profile picture in the upper right corner and then “Your Recap” under “History.” Most people are still able to watch the Spring Recap, which had the following requirements for who could watch it:
To see your 2022 Seasonal Recap, you must have listened to at least 2 hours of music on YouTube or YouTube Music between March 1, 2022, and May 20, 2022.
Based on the first condition, YouTube Music could make the Summer Recap available to many people by mid-September.
