You can now tell YouTube to prioritise new features – Times of India

Google wants YouTube users and community members to vote and request the feature(s) that they want YouTube’s developing team to prioritise. Apart from feedback, users can also make requests for the new feature that they want to see on Google’s video streaming platform. Users can offer feedback for an existing feature or can request a new feature through the YouTube app on TVs and gaming consoles.
YouTube feature voting: How will it work
As per a blog post, YouTube users and community members can share their feedback or make new requests from the company’s official feedback tool. With this tool, YouTube will enlist the TV app features that are most requested and will enable users to like (thumbs up) or dislike (thumbs down) these features. The page will also show the dislike count for people to understand what most users want.

Currently, there are five options for YouTube users to like or dislike — the ability to live-stream, control playback speed and block channels along with expanding HD/4K resolutions to more devices and improvement of the comment functionality. The comment feature allows YouTube users to read and post comments across multiple devices.
Apart from voting for the features, YouTube users can also make requests for new features which will be added to the page every quarter. Instead of posting duplicate feature requests, users can upvote features that they want YouTube to prioritise.
YouTube’s focus on smart TVs
Lately, YouTube has been focusing on improving the smart TV app’s experience. Last month, the platform added support for 5.1 surround sound-enabled videos on “all 2021 and later TVs, Chromecast, Apple TV, Roku and most Fire TV devices.” Google also mentioned that “many 2020 and earlier TVs may also support surround sound.”
YouTube also enables Android and iPhone users to connect to their TVs for easy commenting and sharing. Moreover, an overlay UI also helps users to search for videos while watching one in the background.
