Xiaomi Smarter Living 2023 event on April 13th: Smart TV X Pro, Air Purifier 4 and more to launch

Xiaomi, which has for long been India’s top-selling smartphone brand, has been hosting an annual smart home and automation-themed event in India since 2019. First held in September 2019, the event features devices from its ecosystem of smart home products. Now, the fourth edition of the event is set to be hosted later this week, with the Xiaomi Smarter Living 2023 event scheduled for Thursday, April 13th. Ahead of the event, Xiaomi has already confirmed a host of devices that it would be showcasing at the smart home event, while there could also be some surprises in store beyond what has been already showcased.

On this note, here’s looking at everything that we expect to see at the Xiaomi Smarter Living 2023 event.

Xiaomi Smart TV X Pro series

The first and foremost of the devices that are expected at the Xiaomi Smarter Living 2023 event is its Smart TV X Pro series television, which comes with the unique selling point of being the first Xiaomi TV to run on Google TV in India — and not Android TV. It’s not clear as to what the exact feature set of the Xiaomi Smart TV X Pro series would be, but according to Xiaomi’s official event page, the key features will include a 4K display panel with Dolby Vision IQ certification.

Other key features include a claimed near-zero-bezel body of the TV, HDR10+ certification, and 40W rear-firing speakers with DTS:X and Dolby Atmos certifications. It’s not clear if the remote will be any different, but the outline looks the same as that of all other Xiaomi TVs.

Google TV, launched in 2020, is an enhanced version of Android TV that brings a new interface and content curated based on Google’s machine learning algorithms — rather than being defined by third party content streaming platforms. It works somewhat similar to how custom Android interfaces do, and will feature in a Xiaomi TV in India for the first time.

While reports are not confirmed yet, the Xiaomi X Pro range of TVs will feature at least three screen sizes, ranging between 43 inches and 55 inches. The Smart TV X series is priced between Rs 28,999 and Rs 39,999, and it remains how the X Pro will shape up.

Xiaomi Smart Air Purifier 4

The Xiaomi Smart Air Purifier 4 is already available in global markets, and appears set to be an extension to the company’s default air purification formula. Key features include operation inside up to 48 square metres space, low noise mode producing 32dB with night mode, detection of pet hair and pollens, deodourisation of rooms with activated carbon filter, negative air ionisation for easier to breathe air, Wi-Fi and voice control, easy opening, closing and cleaning of innards, and proprietary filters.

Xiaomi also sells Pro and Lite variants of the Air Purifier 4, which vary in terms of the maximum room size that they can purify. However, it remains unclear at the moment as to whether Xiaomi will launch multiple variants of the purifier, or only the standard Air Purifier 4.

The new device will replace 2019’s Air Purifier 3, which was launched at Rs 9,999 in November 2019, and sold at Rs 10,999 until recently. While there are no indicative prices at the moment, the Air Purifier 4 was launched in global markets at $299, or around Rs 24,500 — suggesting that it could be more expensive than its predecessor.

Xiaomi Robot Vacuum-mop 2i

The Xiaomi Robot Vacuum-mop 2i could be a product debuted in India, since a specific version of this name is not retailed by Xiaomi yet in any market. As a result, very little is known about the vacuum mop so far.

Features advertised by Xiaomi of the floor robot include ‘powerful suction’ to “remove every dirt and hair”, high precision sensors to map houses, gyroscope and ‘visually aided navigation’ for cleaning route planning and obstacle avoidance, app control for operation, and an electronically operated water tank.

Xiaomi’s latest vacuum mop in India before this was launched in August last year with the Robot Vacuum-mop 2 Pro, which was priced at Rs 29,999. It offered features such as 30 percent more suction power than standard 3,000 Pascal (Pa) cleaning robots, a 5,200mAh battery to clean up to 2,000 square feet of floor area at one go, 19 high-precision sensors, LiDAR anti-collision system, six cliff sensors and an anti-fall sensor, and support for Alexa and Google voice assistants.

Xiaomi Grooming Kit

The new Xiaomi Grooming Kit could include a trimmer with multiple attachments. Xiaomi’s teaser only reveals that it will be chargeable with USB-C cables, while the rest will only be revealed at the event itself. The company already sells a multi-attachment ‘Grooming Kit Pro’ in the country, at Rs 2,299.

Anything else at Xiaomi Smarter Living 2023?

Isolated reports have suggested that Xiaomi may also launch a new air fryer at the event. The teaser poster for the event also shows what looks like the display of a smartwatch, although the latter does not strictly fit into the home automation-focused theme of the company’s Smarter Living events. More details will be revealed when Xiaomi takes to the stage at 2PM on April 13th.

How to watch live stream

Xiaomi will live stream the event on its platforms and social media handles, although it has not issued a link yet. To find more about how to watch the event, sign up for a notification on Xiaomi’s website, here.
