WhatsApp video messages now available for Android and iOS beta testers
WhatsApp video messages
- The new feature is available for iPhone users with the WhatsApp beta for iOS 23.12.0.71 update, and Android users with the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.13.4 update. Once you download these updates, you should get the new video message feature.
- You can check if you have it by tapping on the microphone button next to the chat and seeing if it turns to the video camera icon.
- Once you tap on the video camera icon you can record your video message for up to 60 seconds and send it in the chat.
- If you want to rewatch your video you’ll have to enlarge the video, as explained by WABetaInfo.
How is it different from recording a video on WhatsApp?
If we really think about it, there isn’t much of a difference when it comes to recording a video since the camera shortcut is available in the chat itself. It’s as simple as tapping on the camera icon, recording a video and sending it on WhatsApp. The new feature simply gives you another option to record video messages similar to how we record voice messages on WhatsApp.
If WhatsApp is indeed planning to roll this feature out to everyone then it will probably need to offer more than what it already does. Otherwise it seems more like an unnecessary add-on to the existing line of features on WhatsApp.
