WhatsApp is working on this iPhone-like feature for group chats on desktop app – Times of India
As per a post by WABetainfo WhatsApp Desktop app beta testers will soon get a feature that will show the profile picture of participants within a group chat. The profile picture will be shown beside every message that is sent in the group. Currently, WhatsApp only shows the name of the group participants beside their messages – just like it is on the Android and iOS apps.
Furthermore, the screenshot shared by WABetaInfo, if the group member doesn’t have a profile picture or is not available due to their privacy settings, the default profile icon will be shown and it will have the same colour as the contact name.
As mentioned, the Meta-owned instant messaging platform was also reported to be developing the same cosmetic change for group chats. At that time, WABetaInfo mentioned that there’s no way to disable this feature “since it will always be enabled by default for all group participants and there is no switch for it.”
WhatsApp recently started rolling out a blur tool for images to some beta testers on the Desktop beta app. The tool will enable users to quickly censure sensitive information from images. Reports say that WhatsApp developed two blur tools enabling users to edit images by using an alternate blur effect. Users can also choose the blur size to apply the effect with granular precision.
Earlier this week, WhatsApp was reported to be testing the ability to add captions to forwarded media files. Currently, WhatsApp enables users to add captions to photos, videos and documents that are shared from the local storage of a device. This capability is being rolled out to some select Android beta testers.
