Watermelon + Ice Cream = A Dessert Disaster? This Viral Video Has Foodies Divided

When it comes to weird food combos, featuring ice creams is a common choice. Some people love to experiment with this popular dessert and use it in strange – and often, unappetising – ways. A few days back, a video showing the making of ice cream dabeli at a Vadodara shop went viral. The dish was prepared by layering bread, grated cheese, dry fruits and chopped ice cream dollies (Read more here). Needless to say, foodies were far from pleased. Now, another video featuring an unusual dessert is grabbing eyeballs online. Although it is not as bizarre as the sweet dabeli, many foodies were left unhappy at the idea.

The video was shared by Twitter user @MFuturewala. In it, we see a vendor filling half a hollowed-out watermelon with shaved ice. He pours some red syrup on top and then adds more shaved ice on top. He lines up three scoops of ice cream on top of the ice and pours three types of syrup on top of them. He goes on to add a whitish liquid on top of all this, which might be melted vanilla ice cream or something else. Finally, he garnishes the dessert with Tutti frutti, chopped nuts and chocolates. The video has received 33.8K views so far. In the caption, the Twitter user sarcastically wrote, “I am so disappointed they didn’t add Cheese, Mayo and Amul Butter…” He also asked people, “Any guesses from which state?” Many people replied that it would have to be Gujarat. While some expressed interest in trying the dish, others felt it would be far from delicious. Check out their reactions below.
