NEW DELHI: South Africa batsman AB de Villiers announced his retirement in 2021 but the 39-year-old recently expressed in an interview that if he were to make a comeback, he would strive to be the best and would relish the competition with Suryakumar Yadav and Virat Kohli.
During his illustrious 15-year international career, De Villiers earned the prestigious title of ICC ODI Player of the Year three times and was recognised as one of Wisden’s five cricketers of the decade in 2019.

“I definitely didn’t play enough cricket towards the back end of my career. I think that was the main thing.
