Another Chinese smartphone maker, Vivo, is also reportedly planning to launch a new foldable smartphone. The Vivo X Flip is expected to arrive in Q1 2023. A tipster named Digital Chat Station has shared a mock concept of the upcoming smartphone (spotted by GizmoChina). The concept mock-up has revealed the phone’s expected cover display and design.
Vivo X Flip: Expected design and key highlights
Vivo X Flip is likely to sport a hinge made of aluminium and its design is expected to resemble the X90 series models which were released in China in November 2022. The external display is expected to be 682 pixels wide and have a vertical rectangular form. Vivo’s X Flip may feature only two lenses in the camera arrangement which will leave an area for the Zeiss logo.
Meanwhile, the internal display of the upcoming smartphone is said to have a width of 1080 pixels. The size of the internal display is expected to match other flip-foldable smartphones including — the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip, Oppo Fold N Flip and Motorola Razr which are currently available. the Huawei Mate Xs is the only device that houses a slightly bigger screen and a higher pixel-per-inch (PPI) density.

As per the concept mock-up, the smartphone is expected to feature volume rockers and a power key on the right side. The power key is likely to have a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. Moreover, adding more lenses usually results in smaller sensors and may degrade the camera performance, so a dual camera setup might be a possibility.
Vivo X Flip’s mock-up even shows a sleek design of the smartphone. More details about the phone are expected to arrive as the launch date gets closer.
