Uniform Advantage (UA), a multi-channel retailer of uniforms for the medical and hospitality industries and sister company Chef Uniforms (CU), a multi-channel retailer of chef apparel, shoes and accessories celebrates Pride with a donation to The Trevor Project.

This year, UA/CU donated $10,000 to the organization—the leading suicide prevention and crisis intervention organization for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning (LGBTQ) young people.

“Our role in serving the healthcare and chef communities has made all of us deeply aware of urgent need of support for members of the LGBTQ community—especially young people. This donation is in recognition of our LGBTQ family members, friends and colleagues,” said Uniform Advantage/Chef Uniforms CEO, Susan Masimore.

For more than 25 years, The Trevor Project has provided free, confidential mental health services to LGBTQ youth nationwide and also has an affirming online community designed specially for LGBTQ young people called TrevorSpace. The goal is simple: saving lives.

According to The Trevor Project’s 2023 survey of 28,000 LGBTQ youth across the United States:

• 
  56% of LGBTQ youth who wanted mental health care in the past year were not able to get it
• 41% of LGBTQ youth seriously considered attempting suicide in the past year
• LGBTQ youth who live in communities that are accepting of LGBTQ people reported significantly lower rates of attempting suicide

“The Trevor Project performs vital, life-saving work on behalf of vulnerable youth,” said Masimore. “We at Uniform Advantage and Chef Uniforms are pleased and proud to support its mission.”
