As March comes to an end, we can safely say that summer is in full swing. While we don’t look forward to the heat, there are a few perks of the season. For us foodies, the top one is mangoes. We cannot wait to get our hands on the mouth-watering fruit and devour as many as we can while it is in season. Not only do mangoes taste heavenly by themselves, but they can also be used to make many yummy dishes. A common preparation is aamras. This dish is simply a homemade sweetened mango pulp. Recently a Twitter post on aamras grabbed a lot of eyeballs online. Wondering why? Check it out below:

A Twitter user (@MSDianAbhiii) posted a picture of aamras along with two puris. He captioned the image, “Sleeping pills pro max.” Many users found his post relatable. But what was surprising was that some also seemed put off by the pairing. Some had never even heard of aamras puri before. However, in the western part of India, this is a actually very popular combination. The author of the original Tweet wrote, “It’s really sad that some people really don’t know about one of the authentic dishes in India.” Another user also wondered, “Why are people shocked it’s a well-known combo in Maharashtra and Gujarat?”
