Twitter top executive tells employees to not leak confidential information to press – Times of India

Twitter does not have a dedicated communications team and any queries by the press are returned with a poop emoji. Most of the announcements are made by the company owner Elon Musk on the micro-blogging platform but there have been various incidents when some confidential information is leaked to the media. A newly-appointed Twitter executive has taken this matter seriously and asked the company employees to protect confidential information.
Twitter’s top executive, Joe Benarroch, sent an email asking employees to share information with those who need to know.He said that employees “must be very mindful of protecting confidential information and this is an obligation we must all take very seriously.”

The development was first shared by The Platformer’s Zoe Schiffer. Benarroch later retweeted her tweet and attached a copy of the email he sent to employees.

“Here is the full email for anyone who is wondering. I stand by my words. Great teams are built on TRUST. We’re building something special at Twitter. The individuals who are leaking internal information can’t be trusted and don’t deserve to be a part of it,” he wrote.
Report suspects leaking information
Benarroch also said that if any staff member suspects that any other employee is “not protecting Twitter’s confidential information,” they must report it.
According to Benarroch, it is simple to protect confidential information.

“Be security-conscious in all your thinking. By doing so, we’ll avoid violations that could result in consequences that include immediate termination and criminal or civil legal action. The rule applies to any confidential information regarding Twitter that, if leaked, could cause harm to our business, customers, or users,” he added.
Benarroch was appointed to Twitter’s “Business Operations” by the new CEO Linda Yaccarino. Both executives previously worked together at NBCUniversal.
Australia demands explanation on online hate
Meanwhile, an Australian cyber regulator sought an explanation from Twitter on its handling of online hate as the owner lifted bans on a reported 62,000 accounts on the microblogging platform.
The regulator called on the company Twitter to detail its handling of online child abuse material which it said has picked up since Musk’s takeover in October.
