Threads: Instagram’s Twitter competitor Threads is live on the web for everyone to explore – Times of India
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg created his first post using the app. According to a report by The Verge, several other brands and creators have been given early access — including Netflix, psychologist Adam Grant, MMA fighter Francis Ngannou and F1 racer Lando Norris, among others.
At the time of writing, the head of Instagram, Adam Mosseri, has about 2,300 followers and Zuckerberg has over 1,800 followers. The Threads’ logo on the top of the page can be used to switch between light and dark modes. Furthermore, apart from posting texts, users can also share photos and GIFs.
“Soon, you’ll be able to follow and interact with people on other fediverse platforms, like Mastodon. They can also find people on Threads using full usernames, like @[email protected],” the threads label says in the description.
Threads coming on July 6
The development comes a day after Mosseri announced in his Instagram Channel that the app will debut on “Thursday” (July 6). The app was already listed on the App Store and it was reportedly listed on Google Play Store.
“Heads up, we’re launching our text app, called Threads, on Thursday. We’re hoping to build an open, civil place for conversation. We have a ton more work to do, but I’m very excited to get it into your hands and hear what you think,” Instagram head Adam Mosseri said on his Channel.
Earlier this year, a report said that the standalone app will be based on Instagram and will be integrated with ActivityPub – an open, decentralised social networking protocol that provides a client/server API for creating, updating and deleting content.
