Of course, no royal occasion is complete without a mention of jewellery. And while the Trooping the Colour is a strict no-tiaras affair, Catherine wore a pair of double-drop sapphire and diamond earrings that once belonged to Princess Diana, who, incidentally, wore green to the Trooping the Colour more than once, including when heavily pregnant with Prince William, in June 1982 (the prince was born just nine days later, on June 21).
Speaking of the King’s youngest son, reports claimed he and wife Meghan, Duchess of Sussex were not invited to the Trooping the Colour, after stepping back from royal life, including the airing of a series of damning claims against the family in Harry’s autobiography, Spare, and in associated publicity interviews.
Last week, Harry, who attended his father’s coronation without his wife or children, travelled to London briefly from his home in California to give evidence in court in a case against the Mirror Group publishing company.
