Suriya says Prabhas bowled him over by feeding him biryani cooked by mom: ‘He didn’t have dinner till 11.30…’

Prabhas and Suriya are both big stars in their own right. With films like Jai Bhim, Vikram, and Soorarai Pottru, Suriya has established himself as a commercially successful and critically-acclaimed actor in Tamil cinema. Similarly, Prabhas is also one of the most bankable actors in the country now with pan-India successes like Baahubali and Saaho. In a recent interview, Suriya recounted how he was bowled over by Prabhas’ simplicity and humility when they recently met. Also read: Prabhas wins over Amitabh Bachchan with his home-cooked food

Prabhas has been known to pamper his co-stars with home-cooked meals, something the likes of Amitabh Bachchan and Shruti Haasan–his co-stars in Project K and Salaar–have attested. Suriya also witnessed that hospitality when the two recently crossed paths while shooting in the same location.

In an interview with Asianet, Suriya recalled when their impromptu dinner plans got delayed, “We met in the film city; casually, he mentioned, ‘I will wait sir, for dinner tonight; we will have dinner together. I thought ok, I assumed it’s hotel dinner or it will come from the production mess. My shooting from 6pm happened to become 8, then 10, and almost till 11:30. I thought I will keep meeting Prabhas; maybe tomorrow I will say sorry to him.”

However, the National Award-winner got a pleasant surprise when he reached his hotel. “Then I was walking in the corridor, and his door was opened, and he came out and said ‘Sir, I am ready, you take a shower’ and I was shocked. It was 11:30 in the night, he didn’t have dinner, and he was waiting for me and food was there from his house, he has made his mother cook. I never had such a nice biryani,” said Suriya.

Prabhas is currently awaiting the release of his big budget pan-India film Adipurush. The Om Raut directorial is based on Ramayana and also stars Kriti Sanon and Saif Ali Khan. He also has Project K and Salaar in the pipeline. Suriya, on the other hand will be seen next in Vanangaan apart from a cameo appearance in the Akshay Kumar-starrer remake of Soorarai Pottru.
