Prayagraj: With over 31,600 tokens, Swaroop Rani Nehru (SRN) Hospital of Prayagraj has secured third rank in generating ABHA (Ayushman Bharat Health Account) numbers via online scan and share module for registration of patients across the country in the month of May.

AIIMS Delhi with 73,700 ABHA numbers is first while AIIMS Bhubaneshwar with 33,400 tokens stood second.

The ABHA numbers (a 14-digit unique health ID) can be generated using an Aadhaar card or mobile number and allows users to share their health records digitally with hospitals, clinics, insurance providers and others.

Nodal officer (Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission, Prayagraj) Dr Utsav Singh told to a news agency “The National Health Authority (NHA) has revealed the top three performers of May month for Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission Scan & Share service through a tweet and claimed that Swaroop Rani Nehru Hospital, Prayagraj, UP has ranked third in the chart.” Singh said hospital across the country are actively adopting ABHA-based scan & share service for instant OPD registrations.

“This technique is helping the OPD patients to save time and avail digital service,” he said. ABHA numbers are being created for patients across the country to keep health records in digital form. It has been replacing manual records and can be accessed anywhere through mobiles.

“If a patient gets transferred from one hospital to another, these records play a beneficial role for further treatment accordingly. This is a step towards creating digital health infrastructure, making medical coverage more accessible and providing a next step in digitising healthcare records,” he said.

In Prayagraj, the facility is available at five health units – Beli Hospital, District women hospital (Dufferin), MLN Divisional hospital (Colvin) and SRN hospital (MLN Medical College) and Phulpur community health centre. Till now, over one lakh ABHA cards have been generated. Patients who don’t have their mobile numbers linked with their Aadhaar card can also avail ABHA number through the new initiative by using biometric devices. Health officials claimed that these ABHA number will be used for the purposes of distinctively identifying persons, authenticating them, and threading their health records (only with the consent of the patient) across multiple systems and stakeholders. A Personal Health Record (PHR) application enables a user to provide consent for sharing and linking their personal health records with various healthcare providers.

Overall, Lucknow has secured first rank in generating highest (2,29,774) tokens between January and May in the state since the beginning of the scheme and is closely followed by Kanpur Nagar (2,00,815) and Prayagraj (1,94,413) tokens.
