Non-Twitter Blue users: No DM to non-followers
- A screenshot of a user called @TitterDaily’s spam-filled inbox from bots was shared, and in response to that, Musk addressed the user and stated that the amount of spam in Twitter direct messages should decrease significantly in the next few weeks.
- According to a Twitter tracking handle, Twitter said the platform would restrict the ability to send direct messages to non-followers to only verified users.
- Musk confirmed that the update would be released this week in response to the inquiry. He repeated that the action would aid in distinguishing AI bots.
As per reports, the micro-blogging site is also planning to restrict the number of direct messages that non-verified users can send per day. The current limit for direct messages per day is set at 500, but there is no clear indication of an absolute limit.
Meanwhile, the tweet thread received a variety of reactions to Elon Musk’s announcement. The decision has not impressed marketers and influencers who rely on direct marketing.
Twitter has been actively promoting its Twitter Blue subscription service to users, which includes features such as longer tweets, edit tweets, undo tweets, and more. The Blue service can be accessed for a month at a cost of Rs 650 on the web and Rs 900 on mobile devices. This information is useful for those who are not familiar with the service.
