Snapchat brings AI with AR features to take on Instagram and Facebook | Digit

The social media company, in the recently organised Snap Partner Summit 2023, has claimed that it has reached over 750 million monthly active users around the world and is set to change the paradigm for the platform with multiple collaborations in the array of AR tools.

Snapchat has emerged as a head-to-head competitor for Meta platforms with its unique audience engagement and user experience. Snapchat is currently optimizing its interface for better engagement around global markets and not limited to the US and iPhone dominant user base.

Snap AR

Unique Snapchat features and Snap collaborations

Snap has announced its multi-year partnership with American entertainment company Live Nation. The primary goal of this collaboration is to bring custom AR experiences to 16 mega events, including Beyond Wonderland Southern California and Electric Daisy Carnival, the company said.

Snap has also planned on an integration with live event visualisation company Disguise to attain Snap AR to the world’s largest venues and tours. The company suggested that, “During future shows, fans can see AR visuals through the Snapchat camera that interact with the on-stage visual production, via Disguise RenderStream,” Furthermore, Snapchat is ready to collaborate with well-known DJ Kygo, to create AR experiences for some of the artist’s concerts.

Snap’s in-house AR Image Processing technology and 3D Viewer will allow the app to enable the users to try on apparel virtually. Snapchat also aims at using the With the Fit Finder app and AR mirror for accurate size suggestions and trying on products. These features expand Snapchat’s Shopping Suite. 

Moreover, Snapchat has confirmed a partnership with Coca-Cola to set up an AR-enabled Coca-Cola vending machine and the users can operate the vending machine with gestures.

Snap also introduced new Generative AI Lenses which along with Cosmic Lens will allow the users to transform into a sci-fi set up. The app will personalise the experience by suggesting the apt lenses for the user in the particular content format.
