sectoral ideas: ETMarkets Investors’ Guide: Sectors that can be safe bets in volatile market | The Economic Times Podcast

0
Welcome to ETMarkets Investors’ Guide, a show about asset classes, market trends, and investment opportunities. This is Saloni Goel.

The market stayed weak for the most part of the week, thanks to the record low rupee, a mixed set of quarterly earnings and fears the US Fed is set to hike policy rates aggressively after a higher-than-expected inflation print. What kept the downside capped for the market was the fall in crude oil prices amid fears of slowing world demand.

ETMarkets caught up with Vikram Kasat, Head Advisory at Prabhudas Lilladher, to know his takeaways from initial IT results; falling crude oil prices, macros developments and sectors he prefers at this point in time.

Listen in!

Q. A couple of IT firms have come out with their June quarter earnings. What are the key takeaways there?

Q. Crude oil prices are falling but due to global recessionary concerns. While a fall in crude is a short term relief, a slowdown in developed economies isn’t. How would you read this from the market perspective?

Q. How would you read US inflation print, including the core CPI, released this week? How will it impact rupee, flows to domestic equity markets, and the market outlook as a whole?

Q. Which are the sectors that you see could be safe bets?

Thank you Mr Kasat for the insights.

That’s all in today’s special podcast. Do keep checking this space for more interesting content and take time out to follow our market podcast every day. Stay safe and Happy Weekend!
