Being the first Somwar of Sawan 2022, many Indians across the country are gearing up to maintain their first fast of this holy month. The Sawan or Shrawan is dedicated to worshipping Lord Shiva. People fast on all 16 Mondays, starting from the first one which falls on 18th of July this year, and indulge in only vrat-friendly recipes. Today, we have found a delicious vrat-friendly snack that you can have on Sawan ka Somwar. Inspired by sabudana vada, this recipe is unlike the classic snack as it doesn’t require boiled potatoes or soaked sabudana. Known as sabudana vada cutlet, the recipe is shared by Parul Gupta via her YouTube channel ‘Cook With Parul’ and the video gives complete instructions on how to make this vrat snack at home.

Sabudana Vada Cutlet Recipe: How To Make Sabudana Vada Cutlet For Sawan 2022 Vrat

Dry roast sabudana in a pan. Grind it into a fine powder. Keep aside. Make a fine paste using peeled potatoes, green chillies, grated ginger and cumin seeds. In a bowl, combine the sabudana powder with potato paste, crushed peanuts, pepper, rock salt and coriander leaves. Pour some water and knead a soft dough. Mould cutlets out of the dough, and then deep fry till it is crisp. The vrat-special vada is ready!

Green Chutney Recipe: How To Make Vrat-Friendly Hari Chutney For Sawan 2022

All you have to do is grind coriander leaves, green chillies, roasted peanuts, grated ginger, rock salt, black pepper and lemon juice. You can also add yoghurt instead of lemon juice to make the chutney creamy instead of tangy.
