Sachin Tendulkar, Dinesh Karthik hail Deepika Kumari’s gold rush, wish her for Tokyo Olympics

The Indian sporting fraternity led by Sachin Tendulkar and Dinesh Karthik congratulated Deepika Kumari as the ace archer grabbed a hat-trick of gold medals at the Archery World Cup Stage 3 in Paris on Sunday. India’s gold rush began with the women’s recurve team of Deepika, Ankita Bhakat and Komalika Bari notching up a comfortable win over Mexico.

Deepika and husband Atanu Das bounced back from a 0-2 deficit to down the Netherland’s Sjef van den Berg and Gabriela Schloesser 5-3. Deepika then blanked 17th ranked Russian Elena Osipova 6-0 to cap a perfect three out of three in the recurve women’s section, her fourth individual World Cup gold medal.

“This is the first time I’ve won all three medals in a World Cup. I’m really happy but at the same time, I’ve to continue improving as we have some very, very important competitions lined up,” Deepika said.

Sachin took to Twitter to hail Deepika’s magnificent performance at the archery world cup and then wished her all the best for the upcoming Tokyo Olympics.

Dinesh Karthik and Shikhar Dhawan also congratulated Deepika Kumari for winning hat-trick of gold medals and regaining the top spot in the archery world rankings.
