Rs 10 Flipkart sale fee being levied on discounted products, customers not happy
This didn’t go well with customers who purchased products as they believe that it was just another money-making tactic similar to the secured packaging fee. For those unaware, Flipkart has recently increased the price of the packaging fee from Rs 69 to Rs 99. In its defence, the e-commerce giant said that this will help it to securely deliver products to customers without any damage during shipping.
Flipkart sale fees annoys customers
For a customer who is buying a discounted product during the sale period, a nominal charge of Rs 10 is being added to the total bill. The sale fee comes with a message that reads, “You are enjoying top deals with a one-time sale fee of Rs 10.” Ironically, Flipkart claims that over 20 lakh customers have saved more than Rs 20 crore with top deals.

Notably, some customers claim Flipkart is charging a sale fee on products that are not even on discount.

Another scenario was highlighted wherein a customer, even after paying the Rs 10 sale fee and Rs 40 shipping charges, received a broken product.
After having @Flipkart plus member, after paying extra ₹40 as shipping charge,₹10 as sale fee. This is what you get from flipkart. A broken product with no outer packaging. @flipkartsupport kindly look into this. pic.twitter.com/Y0U28rNUhN

Flipkart’s response
After multiple user complaints, Flipkart has finally responded to a customer’s query on Twitter.
The response reads, “We understand your concern related to the Sale fee. Please note that it is a nominal fee for select products with great offers and is applied only to your first order during a sale event. This fee helps us bring you a wide range of products with great value during a sale event. Thanks for your understanding.”
Flipkart and its closest competitor Amazon both hosted mega sales recently, where there were lucrative deals on smartphones, laptops and other generic items.
