JioPhone Next comes preloaded with a device locking feature which will restrict user access in case of failure in paying the EMIs. The phone has got a price-tag of Rs 6,499 and can also be purchased by paying Rs 1,999 upfront and the rest via EMI for up to 24 months. So, if the user fails to pay the EMI installment, the feature will restrict phone access and may block a certain number of apps.
“According to the details provided on the JioPhone Next, the admin can see the list of apps that are installed on the smartphone. Similarly, they can also control aspects like apps installed, location permissions, microphone permissions, and camera permissions,” says a report by GizBot.
There are four plans available for buyers in case they wish to go for the EMI options:
Always On Plan: Buyers will have the option of choosing two EMI plans: Rs 300 for 24 months or Rs 350 for 18 months. They will get 5GB of data plus 100 minutes per month.
Large Plan: Buyers can pay Rs 450 or Rs 500 for 24 or 18 months respectively. They will get 1.5GB data per day along with unlimited voice calling.
XL Plan: Buyers can choose to pay Rs 500 or Rs 550 for 24 months or 18 months respectively. They will get 2GB of data along with unlimited voice calling every month.
XXL Plan: Buyers can choose to pay Rs 550 or Rs 6000 for 24 months or 18 months respectively. They will get 2.5GB of data along with unlimited voice calling every month.
Reliance Jio collaborated with Google for the JioPhone Next. Reliance JioPhone Next will come with a light version of Android operating system provided by Google and not KaiOS. “Our teams have optimized a version of our Android OS especially for this device,” said Google and Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai. This is the first mobile device from Reliance Jio to offer Android OS. Older models of the Jio Phone were powered by KaiOS.
