Read Infosys HR’s ‘warning’ letter to employees on moonlighting – Times of India

0
The Indian IT industry is cracking down on moonlighting. Just weeks after Wipro chairman Rishad Premji described moonlighting as “cheating – plain and simple”, Infosys has sent a stern warning email to employees. In the letter sent from HR, Infosys has made it clear that moonlighting is not allowed according to the employees’ code of conduct, and that any violation will lead to disciplinary action which may include termination of employment. Here’s the letter sent by Infosys’ employee relations team (TOI has reviewed a copy of the internal communication).
Moonlighting refers to the practice of working on a second job or multiple other work assignments during normal business hours/outside business hours. Dual Employment in India or double employment rule in India means being employed by more than one employer at the same time.
At Infosys, dual employment is not permitted as per the Employee Handbook and the Code of Conduct. As clearly stated in your offer letter.
“You agree not to take employment, whether full-time or part-time as Director/Partner/Member/Employee of any other organization/Entity engaged in any form of business activity without the consent of Infosys. The consent may be given subject to any terms and conditions that the company may think fit and may be withdrawn at any time at the discretion of the company.”
Any violation of these clauses will lead to disciplinary action which could even lead to Termination of Employment.
The letter ends with the line: No Two Timing — No Moonlighting.
It also asks employees to reach out their BPHR for any clarifications.
