Rani Mukerji feels it’s important to make daughter Adira realise she isn’t special, keeps her away from paparazzi
Former co-stars Rani Mukerji and Kareena Kapoor recently reunited on the latter’s YouTube talk show What Women Want. The actors, who had worked together on Mujhse Dosti Karoge (2002), spoke about motherhood and their children in the episode. Rani also shared how she’s managed to keep her eight-year-old daughter Adira Chopra from being photographed by the paparazzi. She stated that she and her husband, filmmaker Aditya Chopra, are private people and she wants to make sure that Adira realises that she isn’t special because of the media attention. Appearing on the fourth episode of What Women Want, Rani spoke about maintaining a normal upbringing for Adira as she goes to school. That includes keeping her young daughter away from the paparazzi while she steps out. Kareena’s young sons with actor Saif Ali Khan, six-year-old Taimur Ali Khan and two-year-old Jehangir Ali Khan, are constantly followed by the paparazzi as they accompany their parents.
When Kareena asked Rani what super power she and Aditya used to keep the paparazzi away from their child, Rani replied, “No, super power. I just very sweetly tell them, please don’t take baby’s photos and they don’t. They are very sweet. And they have been like this right from the very beginning. Because they know Adi is a private person, I’m a private person.”
She added, “For me it was very important for Adira to have a normal upbringing in school. Because already there is so much attention that a child normally gets, when you are a child of famous parents. It was important for me to make Adira realise she isn’t special because of who she is born to. She has to make herself special with what she would do in life.”
In the interview, Rani also revealed that she has to keep asking Adira to spend time with her. She shared that she has to go behind her like a fan. Adira then politely tells that she would like some ‘me time’. She told Kareena that it was Aditya who had taught her this concept.
Rani was recently seen in the drama Mrs Chatterjee Vs Norway. Directed by Ashima Chibber, the film also starred Anirban Bhattacharya, Jim Sarbh and Neena Gupta.
