Amaravati: Prime Minister Narendra Modi patted the doctors and staff of AIIMS, Mangalagiri for achieving 10 lakh out-patient consultations. “A good achievement by the institution. In one of the recent #MannKiBaat programmes, I had discussed this issue including interaction with a doctor and someone who has benefitted from teleconsultations,” Modi tweeted praising the AIIMS team.

Union health minister Mansukh Mandaviya also commended the work of AIIMS Mangalagiri through a tweet. Mandaviya tweeted ”Well done! Congratulations to the doctors & staff of @MangalAiimsAP on crossing the milestone of 10 lakh outpatient consultations! Keep serving society, humanity & the nation with great zeal & devotion!”, he said. Earlier, AIIMS declared that they have reached the milestone of 10 lakh outpatient consultations on Monday.

The outpatient services at AIIMS, Mangalagiri were started in 2019 and in-patient services in 2021. It took just four years to reach the 10 lakh outpatient consultations for the AIIMS despite facing some infrastructure difficulties.

This shows that AIIMS handled about 2.5 lakh outpatients per year which means that it screened around 800-1,000 people per day. State government had recently signed an MoU with AIIMS to extend YSR Aarogyasri services and cancer treatment. State government promised to complete the drinking water project to provide water to AIIMS by June.

Majority of the services in AIIMS are being extended either free of cost or on nominal charges. With the extension of YSR Aarogyasri, almost all the services would be covered free of cost.
