PM Narendra Modi inquires about Milkha Singh’s health after sprint legend admitted in ICU of Covid-19 hospital
Milkha Singh, who has been suffering from Covid-19, was rushed to the Hospital of Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) in Chandigarh after his health deteriorated on Thursday night.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday spoke to sprint legend Milkha Singh and inquired about his health after the 91-year-old was admitted to a hospital in Chandigarh due to dipping oxygen levels.
PM Modi wished Milkha Singh a speedy recovery and hoped he will be back soon to bless and inspire the athletes who are participating in the Tokyo Olympics.
Milkha Singh was rushed to the Hospital of Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) after his health deteriorated on Thursday night. He has been suffering from Covid-19 since May 20.
Milkha Singh has been kept under observation at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the PGIMER hospital, he was said to be in a stable condition on Thursday night.
Milkha Singh’s wife Nirmal Kaur is also receiving treatment in the ICU for Covid-19 due to fluctuating oxygen levels.
The elderly couple’s son and ace golfer, Jeev Milkha Singh, flew down to Chandigarh from Dubai last week while their daughter, Mona Milkha Singh, who is a doctor in the United States, also came in to support their parents.
Milkha Singh is suspected to have contracted the Covid-19 infection from the house help who had tested positive for the virus. His wife had earlier tested negative for the virus when the others in his family contracted the virus.
