Padma Lakshmi’s Guilty Nimbu Achaar Indulgence Makes Twitter Relate
If there’s one condiment that no Indian meal is complete without, it has to be achaar. Whether it’s lemon or carrot, garlic or mango – there are so many pickles that we can find in our Indian kitchen. The art of making achaar is a treasured secret of every Indian family that is passed on from generation to generation. The best part about achaar is its versatility – it pairs equally well with parathas as it does with khichdi. If all this chatter about pickles has got you drooling then trust us, you are not alone. Celebrity television personality and cookbook author Padma Lakshmi took to Twitter to share a relatable video of herself indulging in some Nimbu ka Achaar. Take a look:

“Anyone else do this as a kid?? Let’s be real I still love it,” she wrote in the caption of the video. In the clip, Padma Lakshmi explained that she would love to lick the spoons used in the process of pickle making. They would be sweet and sticky and salty all at once – something that Padma Lakshmi really enjoyed. She likened it to the way it is customary to lick the dough bowls and spoons used in the process of baking by American households. “I always wanted to lick the bowls and spoons from pickle making. So that was my jam. The spicy, salty stuff,” she said in the video.
The hilarious clip of Padma Lakshmi’s guilty nimbu achaar indulgence made Twitter relate. Several admitted that they would do the same at their own homes. Others shared names of dishes that they would enjoy pairing with lemon pickle.
