Now you can stream apps from your Android phone to Chromebooks, here’s how – Times of India
Google has listed on its support page that app streaming is available for devices running Android version 13 or later and Pixel 4A and higher. However, for non-Pixel phones, app streaming is only compatible with Xiaomi 12T, 12T Pro, 13, and 13 Pro, which are running Android 13 or later.
When Phone Hub is enabled, you can check your phone notifications, locate open tabs, and stream apps from your mobile Chrome browser to your Chromebook.
To stream apps on your mobile device, you have multiple options. You can either click on a notification from a messaging app or browse through the “Recent Apps” section in the Hub after opening an app. Then, you can access the “All Apps” option from the Recent Apps list in Phone Hub to launch an app stream.
“You can now complete quick tasks like replying to a conversation, checking on the status of a rideshare or delivery, and editing your shopping list by streaming your Android phone’s apps on your Chromebook,” reads the blog post.
To zoom in and out on an app on your Chromebook, simply use the trackpad as you would on a phone’s touchscreen. If your Chromebook has touch support, you can also use the touch screen to interact with the streamed app.
To use app streaming, ensure that Phone Hub is enabled on the Chromebook. Also, the phone and Chromebook must be on the same Wi-Fi network and close to each other. If your network doesn’t support app streaming, Instant Tethering can help connect them. Google says that app streaming may not work if you’re inactive, out of range, or have connection issues.
