No more OnePlus 7, OnePlus 7T software updates: OnePlus ends support
The OnePlus 7 series launched in May 2019, pre-installed with OxygenOS 9. The lineup comprised the OnePlus 7 and the OnePlus 7 Pro. Meanwhile, the OnePlus 7T series launched in October 2019, including the OnePlus 7T and OnePlus 7T Pro, running OxygenOS 10 out of the box. The devices have now reached end of support with the release of the final OxygenOS 12 update.
OnePlus 7, OnePlus 7T series software support has officially ended
OnePlus, through its official community website, confirmed that the software support for the OnePlus 7 and the OnePlus 7T lineup of smartphones has ended. The company has pushed two Major Android OS updates and one year of security updates to both lineups, and has now called it a day.
In the community forum, OnePlus wrote, “According to the maintenance schedule, MP3 will be the last build for OnePlus 7/7 Pro, thank you all for your help and attention to OnePlus.”
While the OnePlus devices launched post the OnePlus 8 series will continue receiving updates in the future (OnePlus 9 series will receive three major Android updates and four years of security updates), the number 7 series does not appear to be sharing the same luck. If regular software updates are something you are absolutely concerned about and if you are still using one of the OnePlus 7 series smartphones, it is probably time for you to say goodbye and upgrade to a new one. And, if you are planning on sticking to the OnePlus ecosystem, the OnePlus 11 is launching on February 7th in India.
