Intel India head Nivruti Rai has resigned after 29 years at the company, the company announced. Rai was serving as India’s head and vice-president of Intel Foundry services in her latest capacity.
“Intel India country head and VP of Intel Foundry Services, Nivruti Rai, is departing Intel after 29 years with the company. We are grateful to Nivruti for the tremendous progress Intel India has made under her leadership,” Intel said in a statement, as per The Economic Times.
Rai started at Intel in February 1994 as a design engineer and worked with the company in the US until 2005.In September 2005, she moved to Bengaluru to serve as a senior director of chipset engineering and intellectual property development.Last year, Rai was awarded Nari Shakti Puraskar for her contribution to women’s empowerment.
Second leadership exit in last few months
It is worth noting that this is the second leadership exit Intel has seen over the last few months. In November last year, Randhir Thakur, who was the president of Intel’s foundry services, left the company for Tata Electronics.
Thakur is the chief executive officer and managing director and heads the company’s semiconductor and precision manufacturing efforts.
Intel restructures manufacturing business
Recently, Earlier this week, Intel said that its manufacturing business will work like a separate unit and will begin to generate a margin. Citing chief financial officer David Zinsner, news agency Reuters reported that Intel’s internal business units will now have a customer-supplier relationship with the manufacturing business.

“Based on that model, Intel will be the second largest foundry next year with manufacturing revenue of more than $20 billion,” he was quoted as saying on an investor call.
Last week, the US chipmaker said that it would invest up to $4.6 billion in the new semiconductor facility near Wroclaw, Poland.
