Nargis Fakhri: FIFA fever cannot be explained in words

It was actor Nargis Fakhri’s first ever experience of watching a live match at the FIFA tournament, and she admits she was surprised to see herself become an avid football fan in the stadium.

“This was my first experience of watching a match at a FIFA World Cup tournament. It was absolutely thrilling! I really enjoyed how the fans were all in for their teams and how the vibe and energy at the stadium was a high vibration. It truly was an incredible experience,” Fakhri tells us, adding, “I am so impressed with Doha, Qatar, on how everything was easy, seamless and so well organised, and the stadiums were absolutely stunning! They did such an amazing job hosting the FIFA World Cup this year”.

Fakhri continues, “I don’t think Fifa fever can be explained in words, you have to feel it to believe it. It was just so exciting, I was surprised how much I talked about the game and then how excited I was to see the next game, almost as if I was an avid football fan or spectator since childhood. The energy just sucks you in. This was a spontaneous trip, we decided just a few days before”.

On her love for football, she says, “I love sports and admire athletes for their hard work and discipline. I enjoy watching all sports. And I have seen many different sports games live but Football (soccer) was my very first live game and for it to be FIFA world cup is just another level of excitement”.

The Rockstar actor watched the semi-final match between Morocco and France, which she shares was very intense. France won the match to enter the final. The FIFA World Cup 2022 final will be between France and Argentina on December 18.

Opening up about the match, she says, “The vibe was insane! The fans were cheering non-stop. I enjoyed both semi- final games but Morocco versus France was intense. I was hoping for Morocco to win as I was aware they were the underdogs who made it to the semi finals. The stadium for that game was filled with Moroccan fans cheering so loud”.

“That evening had a different kind of vibe… Intense vibe, Morocco played so well, it was exciting to watch them,” says the actor, who couldn’t stay in Qatar for the finals due to her work commitments.
