Mumbai vs Himachal Pradesh: Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy to get new champion | Cricket News – Times of India
KOLKATA: The stage is set for the crowning of a new champion when Mumbai play Himachal Pradesh in the final of the Syed Mushtaq Ali (T20) Trophy at the Eden Gardens here on Saturday.
Both the sides have deservedly earned their places for the summit clash and lifting the trophy for the first time in its 15th edition should act as an added incentive for the boys in both the camps to get charged up for the contest.
Mumbai skipper Ajinkya Rahane would love to add the Syed Mushtaq Trophy to the team’s trophy cabinet, which has 41 Ranji Trophy titles and four Vijay Hazare crowns. Although on paper they may start as favourites, it will not be cakewalk against a side which has been on a rise in recent times.
The experienced Rishi Dhawan-led side, which had won the Vijay Hazare Trophy last season, will give-it-all to bag another title for the first time.
“We are carrying the same momentum from our triumph in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. We are trying nothing new. Everyone knows their job and carrying on the responsibility,” Himachal’s highest run-getter in this tournament Akash Vasisht said, focussing on the team environment ahead of the final.
On a batting paradise, like Eden Gardens, Himachal will have to put up anything above 170 runs in order to put pressure on Mumbai.
