Activision Blizzard and Infinity Ward have revealed the launch date of ‘Modern Warfare 2’, the next mainline entry into the Call of Duty franchise. The first person shooter will launch on October 28, 2022. Though the date is out, the platforms are yet to be revealed but we expect the AAA title to arrive on all the major ones.

This year’s Modern Warfare 2 is not related to 2009’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Instead, the soon-to-be-launched Modern Warfare 2 (2022) is a direct sequel to the 2019’s Call of Duty Modern Warfare which was a reboot of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (2007).

As for the storyline, the developers haven’t divulged any detail but if we are to believe a report by VGC, the major storyline will revolve around US Special Forces going after the Colombian cartel runners. Another report, this time by Eurogamer, claims that the game will come with a new ‘DMZ’ mode which takes inspiration from the extraction-style elements seen in Escape from Tarkov.
