MediaTek’s upcoming flagship chip to reportedly outperform Apple A16 Bionic in GPU performance – Times of India

0
MediaTek is reportedly planning to launch its next-generation flagship chipset — Dimensity 9200. The chipset will succeed the Dimensity 9000 SoC. A new report from Gizmochina suggests that the upcoming flagship chip from MediaTek will outperform Apple’s latest A16 Bionic in terms of GPU performance in benchmarks.
Rumours have already revealed that the Dimensity 9200 is likely to offer some major performance improvements over its predecessor. However, the latest report claims that the performance jump will be so big that it will surpass the Apple A16 Bionic in terms of GPU performance in the GFX Benchmark.
As per the report, the Dimensity 9200 scores 328fps in GFX 1080p Manhattan 3.0 off-screen test which is around 48fps more than what A16 Bionic offers. The MediaTek’s chip is also said to have returned 228fps in Manhattan 3.1 off-screen tests, while the A16 Bionic offers 200fps.
In comparison to the Dimensity 9000+ chipset which has scored 220fps and 160fps in Manhattan 3.0 off-screen tests and Manhattan 3.1 off-screen test, the performance jump here is pretty evident.
This goes without saying that Apple has always been a step ahead with its ‘A-series’ chipsets compared to Android’s best. The A16 Bionic is the chip that powers the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. And, if the claims are true, the upcoming Dimensity 9200 will most likely offer better performance in GPU at least on paper. However, that’s something we will have to confirm when we see the chip in action. Also, we advise you to take this with a pinch of salt at least for now.
