Mediatek Dimensity 8200 with support for 180Hz display, 320MP, HyperEngine 6.0 and more launched – Times of India

Mediatek has announced the Dimensity 8200, a new chipset for flagship smartphones. Like the Dimensity 9200, it is a 4nm chip with an octa-core CPU, but it cuts down on the power and misses some premium features of the former. The Dimensity 8200 will be powering the upcoming slate of affordable gaming smartphones.
The Dimensity 8200, the octa-core CPU, features a Cortex-A78 prime core running at 3.1GHz, three Cortex-A78 performance cores clocked at 3.0GHz, and four Cortex-A55 efficiency cores clocked at 2.0GHz. The CPU comes paired with Arm Mali-G610 MC6 GPU.
Dimensity 8200 is a rather modest Dimensity 9200 for affordable premium smartphones
The chipset comes with support for FHD+ displays at up to 180Hz, and it also supports WQHD displays at up to 120Hz. It features Mediatek’s HyperEngine 6.0, adding support for Vulkan SDK, enabling raytracing for games while also bringing FPS improvements and smart resource optimisation.
Dimensity 8200 supports up to 320MP cameras
Mediatek’s new Dimensity 8200 comes with Imagiq 785 Image Signal Processor (ISP) of Mediatek. The ISP adds support for up to 320MP primary camera, enables 4K 60Hz video recording, and dual exposure HDR videography.
The Mediatek APU 580 inside Dimensity 8200 does the AI chops, adds AV1 video decoding support. Further, the chipset has support for quad-channel LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 internal storage.
Coming to connectivity options, the chipset comes with support for dual 5G connectivity, WiFi 6E, and Bluetooth 5.3 with LE audio.
The Dimensity 8200 has come with iQoo’s latest Neo7 SE smartphone in China. Meanwhile, Xiaomi has confirmed that the Dimensity 8200 will power the upcoming Redmi K60E. However, there is no word when it will be launched.
There is no word on when the two Dimesntiy 8200-powered smartphones will be coming to India.
