‘McDonald’s is the perfect training ground’: Gavin Rubinstein on where he got his start
At the moment, it is Hit & Run on Netflix. It’s this thriller set in Israel and New York, about an agent working for the CIA and Mossad. Great escapism.
Which phrase do you overuse?
Trust the process. Say it daily. I also use ‘a hundred per cent’ a lot, but it’s always ‘a hundred per cent’ and never just ’hundred per cent.
What did you want to do when you grew up?
I wanted to be a professional surfer (though I’ve never surfed a day in my life). But it looked cool.
What was your first job?
McDonald’s at Bondi Beach. I worked at the front counter, then moved into the back, flipped burgers, and mopped floors. It was the first opportunity I had to earn my own income. McDonald’s is the perfect training ground for anyone in business.
Facebook or Instagram?
Instagram. It’s changed a lot, but for me, it’s a huge source of inspiration and news. I don’t use it to stay up to date with friends; it’s more to find content that motivates me.
