Nutritionist reveals 5 types of flours you can include in diabates diet:

1) Amaranth flour

Lovneet stated, “Due to its high amount of manganese, it represents a good option for regulating sugar levels in the organism as manganese helps during gluconeogenesis, in this way, when manganese is obtained in a sufficient amount by consuming Amaranth, it is possible to prevent diabetes.”

2) Ragi flour

This is one of the most beneficial flours for diabetics. Ragi is packed with polyphenols, amino acids, and dietary fibre and is low in glycaemic index. Not only this but do you know that ragi also helps in keeping hunger pangs at bay? It helps you feel satiated for longer, thus reducing cravings and slowing the gastric emptying time and preventing the blood sugar spike.

3) Channe ka atta

The health expert states that chickpea flour is a common substitute for people with diabetes. Channe ka atta is high in protein, which may help prevent insulin resistance. What is that? Basically, it’s a condition that impairs your body’s ability to regulate blood sugar levels efficiently.

4) Barley flour

“Whole-grain barley is a good source of fibre, including the soluble fibre beta-glucan, which slows the absorption of sugar by binding with it in your digestive tract. Furthermore, barley has a low glycaemic index (GI) — a measure of how quickly a food raises blood sugar,” added Lovneet.

5) Almond flour

This is a wonderful gluten-free alternative to regular flour. It is made from finely ground almonds. Almond flour is low in carbs and high in protein, fibre, and heart-healthy fats, giving it a low glycaemic index. Many don’t know that almond flour also contains the nutrient alpha-linolenic acid which helps with regulating blood sugar levels.
