MacBook Air with 3nm M3 chip may launch in the second half of 2023 – Times of India

Apple has recently launched new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models that come powered by the M2 Pro and M2 Max processors. The company has claimed that the new M2-powered MacBook Pro models will be six times faster than the fastest Intel-based MacBook Pro. Now, a new report claims that the Cupertino-based tech giant is working on a new MacBook Air that may be launched in the second half of 2023. According to a report by DigiTimes, these upcoming MacBook Air models may come powered by a 3nm chip which is rumoured to be Apple’s next-gen M3 chip. The report also suggests that these new processors will offer “faster performance and improved power efficiency compared to Apple’s current 5nm chips.”
MacBook Air with 3nm M3 chip: Expected details
As per the report, industry sources have claimed that the supply chain is more focused on the more affordable MacBook Air. Apart from this, the report doesn’t offer any more details about the specs of the upcoming MacBook Air, nor does it provide a more specific launch timeframe.

Apple 3nm M3 chip
TSMC, the chipmaking partner of Apple started producing 3nm chips in December 2022. The M3 processor in the next MacBook Air and the A17 Bionic chip which are rumoured to power the iPhone 15 Pro models will be the first Apple chips that will be designed on the 3nm architecture.
Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo also recently suggested that Apple may update the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro lineup will also be updated with 3nm M3 Pro and M3 Max chips in 2024.
Display industry analyst Ross Young has also claimed that Apple may introduce a 15-inch MacBook Air in the first half of 2023.
The latest MacBook Air with the M2 chip debuted in July 2022. This laptop features a new design with a notch in the display, a 1080p camera, MagSafe charging and more.
