Kumkum Bhagya’s Supriya Shukla on daughter Jhanak’s roka: Had tears in my eyes; Karishma ka Karishma actor opens up on her wedding plans

Popular TV show Karishma Ka Karishma actor Jhanak Shukla had an intimate roka with her partner of four years, Swapnil Suryawanshi, an engineer by profession, on Sunday. Contrary to reports, they didn’t have an engagement, clarifies Jhanak’s mother, actor Supriya Shukla: “Engagement nahi hui hai, it was a cosy roka ceremony as his parents were there to meet Jhanak.”

Everything happened on such short notice, Jhanak claims, that even her immediate relatives had no idea about the ceremony. “We didn’t tell anyone. It was very sudden. Nobody knew, except his and my best friend. We video-called everyone and told them. It was a surprise for everyone,” Jhanak adds.

The Kumkum Bhagya actor is “overwhelmed” with her daughter finding her soulmate. “I’m thankful to God that she found someone, who is so compatible because I don’t think even I would have found a guy like him for her,” Supriya shares. Jhanak chimes in, “Mujhe koi jhel nahi sakta except Swapnil.”

Talking about the ceremony, Jhanak states that it is a “different experience” for her: “It feels good. We didn’t anticipate it, but it happened. It’s been four years of our relationship. Right from long distance to staying close with a lot of adjustments- sab dekh liya.”

The reason the ceremony was planned in such haste was due to Jhanak’s plans to move to Ireland, Dublin for a year to pursue further studies. For now, marriage and engagement plans have been put on hold. “2024 mein kabhi bhi ho sakti hai,” Jhanak quips, adding that it’ll most likely be a surprise just like the roka ceremony. “It’ll be an intimate wedding, I’m not a fan of big weddings.”

Supriya jokes about witnessing several weddings of her on screen daughters, but when her real daughter’s ceremony was taking place she didn’t know how to react. “I had tears in my eyes, I was so overwhelmed. I just didn’t know what to do. I have seen her grow up. So it was very emotional for me,” she mentions.
