KL Rahul checks in at NCA for extensive rehabilitation programme | Cricket News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Indian cricketer KL Rahul has begun his rehabilitation programme at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) as he aims to make a comeback during the Asia Cup in Sri Lanka in September, just before the highly anticipated ODI World Cup.
Rahul, a key figure in the Indian cricket team, sustained a thigh injury while captaining the Lucknow Super Giants in the Indian Premier League (IPL). As a result, he had to withdraw from the IPL and also missed the subsequent World Test Championship final. Following medical advice, he underwent a successful thigh surgery in the United Kingdom.
On Tuesday, Rahul took to social media to share pictures of his return to the NCA, captioning them with the word “home.” The NCA is known for its state-of-the-art facilities and is considered a hub for cricket rehabilitation and training in India.

In the ODI format, Rahul plays a crucial role as a middle-order batsman and also takes on the wicket-keeping duties. His presence in the team has become even more significant due to the absence of Rishabh Pant, who is currently recovering from a serious car accident in December 2022.
With an impressive international record, Rahul has accumulated 2,642 runs in 47 Test matches, 1,986 runs in 54 ODIs, and 2,265 runs in 72 T20Is. He has registered 14 centuries across various formats, showcasing his batting prowess and versatility.
