NEW DELHI: The fourth Ashes Test in Sydney saw a nail-biting finish on the final day as England salvaged a draw with the help of a last wicket stand. The pair of Stuart Broad and James Anderson survived the last two overs of the final day as Australia’s hopes of a 4-0 lead in the series went up in smoke.
Interestingly, an aggressive field placement from skipper Pat Cummins towards the final moments of the match became a major talking point when as many as 8 Aussie fielders were in close-in positions, trying to put pressure on the England tailenders.
As the images of the field placement went viral, IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders was quick to compare it with a similar field placement that their former skipper Gautam Gambhir once had for MS Dhoni during a 2016 IPL match.

Gambhir, who was well known for his aggressive style of captaincy, restricted the opposition team to 103 for 6 in that match where an under-pressure Dhoni scored just 8 runs off 22 balls.
The trip down the memory lane though did not go down well with Dhoni fans and there were sharp reactions on social media. Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings’ teammate Ravindra Jadeja came up with a cheeky response too.

Dhoni was last year retained by CSK ahead of the mega auctions while Gambhir has been roped in as Team Mentor of the newly formed Lucknow franchise for the upcoming edition of the IPL.
