One of the most significant Hindu festivals, Janmashtami, also known as Gokul Ashtami, marks the birth of Lord Krishna. Devotees around the world celebrate this sacred festival with much fervour and enthusiasm. Lord Krishna was said to be a hardcore foodie, especially when it came to sweet treats. He was fond of Makhan mishri and hence was nicknamed as ‘Makhan chor’ because he used to steal Makhan from everyone around Vrindavan. Hence, devotees prepare a myriad of sweet dishes for Prasad that they offer to Lord Krishna. From kheer to panjiri, ladoo, makhan mishri and more such delicacies.
