iPhone SE 4 Will Use OLED Panel from BOE; To Be Launch in March 2024 – Smartprix Bytes
Apple iPhone SE 4 is all set to launch in March 2024. Okay, this information isn’t official yet but the latest reports churning the rumor mills say so. We intercepted some information about the OLED panel iPhone SE 4 will use manufactured by BOE thanks to the courtesy of the publication The Elec.
According to the report, iPhone SE 4 will sport a 6.1” OLED panel and the display will be manufactured by BOE. For the unversed, Samsung Displays is the largest display manufacturer for Apple while LG and BOE have smaller shares of the supply chain too.
Circling back to iPhone SE 4, it will sport an OLED panel instead of sub-standard LCD panels although it won’t be similar to what iPhone 15 or 15 Pro series will offer since the latter uses high-quality and expensive displays. The report further adds that BOE’s OLED panel takes $40 per unit for manufacturing whereas the OLED panels onboard iPads and iPhone 15 series are pricier at $100.
Ming-Chi Kuo recently reported that iPhone SE 4 will get Apple’s proprietary 5G chip that it has been developing for a long time. The chipset supports sub-6GHz 5G bands only and thus, won’t work with those using mmWave. For context, the iPhone SE 3 used a Snapdragon X57 chip to power its 5G support.
iPhone SE 4 will borrow design elements from the 2018 iPhone XR housing a 6.1” OLED panel as aforementioned. Another report hints towards similarities between iPhone SE 4 and iPhone 14 although we are yet to see what it brings onboard. Likely, the device won’t have a TrueDepth camera and instead, it will use a side-mounted Touch ID that has been Apple’s staple for iPhones with home buttons for ages.
Apple is speculated to roll out iPhone SE 4 in March 2024 but again, there’s no concrete date available yet.
