Google Chrome iOS 16 lock screen widgets
Four new lock screen gadgets have been added to the latest stable version of Google Chrome which includes — Search, Incognito Search, Voice Search and Chrome Dino Game.
The search widget will allow access to the Chrome search engine while the incognito search engine will enable users to access incognito tabs in the browser. On the other hand, the voice search widget will let you search in Chrome with voice commands and users can jump directly into Chrome’s popular Dino game directly from your iOS 16 lock screen.
iPhone users can already swipe down from the lock screen to access the Siri-backed search. These new widgets will act as an alternative for users to initiate a quick search using text or voice. Moreover, these new widgets will also work the same way as the existing set available on the home screen.
Each of these four new lock screen widgets will measure 1×1 and the release not has also confirmed that the new update will allow iPhone users to view the Desktop version of sites by default. To do so, users have to enable the Set Default Site Mode to “Desktop” option available on the Content Settings menu. The release note also mentions stability and performance improvements for the app.
Google Drive iOS 16 lock screen widgets
Google has also started rolling out a new update for the Drive app on iOS. The latest Drive update has added three new lock screen widgets for the app which are — Suggested Files, Search and Starred.
The Suggested Files widget shows iPhone users all the important files in Google Drive, while the Search widget allows users to look for specific files and the Starred widget helps them to access the starred files.
The Search and Starred widgets measure 1×1 but the Suggested Files widget is a 2×1 shortcut that shows the files that you access frequently. Google is reportedly using a pre-Workspace logo for these shortcuts.
