India vs West Indies: Jermaine Blackwood wants to score big in Test series against India | Cricket News – Times of India

Jermaine Blackwood, the West Indies batter, is optimistic about rediscovering his positive mindset while batting, which he believes will enable him to score significant runs in the upcoming two-match Test series against India.
The series is scheduled to commence on July 12 in Dominica.
In the previous Test series between India and West Indies, India emerged victorious in both the matches.Blackwood had a limited opportunity to showcase his batting skills, as he played only one innings and managed to score 38 runs. This occurred when he acted as a concussion substitute during the match at Sabina Park in Kingston, Jamaica. As the series signifies the initiation of the 2023-2025 ICC World Test Championship cycle for both the teams, Blackwood is eagerly looking forward to facing the Indian team and making a strong impact.
“I am pretty confident now, but the last time I played against India I didn’t score the runs that I wanted. This time around, I am in a different space because I have been putting in a lot of work and hopefully, I can score big runs in this series,” Blackwood, 31, was quoted as saying by Jamaica Gleaner.
The first Test match between India and West Indies will take place at Windsor Park in Dominica from July 12 to 16, while the second Test is scheduled for July 20 to 24 at Queen’s Park Oval in Trinidad.
Notably, the second Test will mark the 100th Test match played between India and West Indies, adding an extra layer of significance to the series.

In preparation for the Tests against India, Jermaine Blackwood has been actively participating in local competitions at home, honing his skills and staying in form.
Despite West Indies’ recent loss in their Test series against South Africa earlier this year, Blackwood remains confident that the hosts can put up a strong fight against India.
“For the past two years, we have been playing some good cricket and this year we want to take it up a notch. India is one of the top teams in the world, but we have to put up a good fight and we have players who can do that,” he concluded.
