NEW DELHI: With India all set to face Australia in the four-match Test series, beginning this Thursday, Indian cricketer Dinesh Karthik sent a message to Rohit Sharma and his men as to which Aussie players could pose the biggest threat to the hosts in the 4 Test series.
Karthik picked Australia spinner Nathan Lyon and star batter Steve Smith as the biggest threats to the Indian team in the Border Gavaskar Test series.
In a question and answer session on Twitter, a fan asked Karthik who will be the biggest threat for India in the Test series.
To this Karthik, who has played 26 Tests, 94 ODIs, and 60 T20Is for India, replied: “Nathan Lyon and Steve Smith”.

Steve Smith is 4th on the all-time list of Australian batsmen who have scored the most runs against India in Tests. The former Australian captain has 1742 runs in 14 Tests vs India, with 8 centuries and a highest score of 92.
Nathan Lyon meanwhile is the all-time highest wicket taker for Australia against India in Tests. The off-spinner has so far taken 94 wickets in 22 Tests, with best innings figures of 8/50 and as many as seven 5 wicket hauls.
The highly anticipated four-Test series between India and Australia will begin on February 9 at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur.
India hold the Border-Gavaskar Trophy having won the last three series between the two teams, including their breakthrough triumphs Down Under in 2018-19 and 2020-2021.
