Hina Khan Relished This Drool-Worthy Traditional Bengali Combo On Ashtami

Hina Khan never shies away from indulging in mouth-watering delicacies. She relishes yummy treats at home, while travelling, and even during festivities. So, this Navratri, just like we were all busy enjoying a range of delicacies, Hina also got her hands on something special. Guess what? On Ashtami, the actress gorged on a heavenly meal. She shared a glimpse of her authentic Bengali platter on Instagram Stories and we couldn’t stop slurping. Her ‘Ashtami special’ meal served on a traditional banana leaf, consisted of luchi and aloo dum. We could also spot a bowlful of what seemed to be a dessert.

For those who don’t know, luchi is basically deep-fried poori prepared with flour or maida. And, it’s usually best paired with lightly spiced and slightly sweet aloo dum curry, also known as alur dum. She stated, “Ashtami special – luchi aloodum.”

If a hot bowl of khichdi makes you happy, include this recipe in your cookbook. Bengali-style khichuri is quick, comforting, and delicious. So, if you are not in the mood to prepare an elaborate meal, go for this one. Do have it with some ghee on top.

5) Payesh

How can you talk about authentic Bengali food and not mention the name of payesh? This is probably another version of kheer. It’s a mouth-watering dessert that carries the goodness of milk, rice and dry fruits like almonds, raisins and cashew nuts. Are you drooling already?
