High on action
The much-awaited sports drama Toofaan is finally set to release this week. Also, watch out for docu-series Heist if you love thrillers and for teenagers, Never Have I Ever Season 2 is here. Take a note:
July 16: Toofaan on Amazon Prime Video
Actor-director duo Farhan Akhtar and Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, who gave cinephiles the National Award-winning sports biopic Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, are all set to present another sports drama, Toofaan. It also stars Mrunal Thakur, Paresh Rawal, Supriya Pathak Kapur and Hussain Dalal. The film presents the story of a goon from the streets of Dongri, set against the backdrop of boxing, his fall and triumphant comeback against all odds in life.
July 14: Heist on Netflix
From Dirty Robber—the producers behind 2021’s Oscar-winning short film Two Distant Strangers and Emmy-nominated director Derek Doneen, comes a new Netflix documentary series chronicling three of the biggest heists in modern American history, as explained by the people who pulled them off. Stunning in their brazenness, occasionally comical in their simplicity, and brutally honest about the fact that crime doesn’t (usually) pay, these history-making heists provide enough action, adventure and drama.
July 15: Never Have I Ever Season 2 on Netflix
In Season 2 of the coming-of-age comedy Never Have I Ever, Indian American teenager Devi (Maitreyi Ramakrishnan) continues to deal with the everyday pressures of high school and drama at home, while also navigating new romantic relationships. The show is created by executive producer Mindy Kaling, with Lang Fisher serving as executive producer, showrunner and writer.
