Govt hospitals in Telagana record highest deliveries in April – ET HealthWorld
Hyderabad: Government hospitals in Telangana have registered 69 per cent of deliveries in April which is the highest in a month since the state formation, stated the latest state health department records. In 2014, the number of deliveries hovered over 30 per cent. As per the records, Sangareddy, Narayanpet, Medak, and Jogulamba Gadwal districts have registered 81-87 per cent of deliveries in government hospitals.
Vanaparthi, Mahabubabad, Mahabubnagar, Warangal, and Suryapet districts rank last in overall maternal health performance in Telangana. The state health department has highlighted the need to further enhance government hospitals as the preferred choice for childbirths.
The department also highlighted the need to focus on districts which are lagging behind. Health minister T Harish Rao has instructed the joint director of the immunisation department to visit Suryapet districts, where immunisation rates are low, and take necessary steps to improve the situation.
“Among other districts, Karimnagar district is required to reduce the rate of Csections. For this, a team under the joint director of the maternity department will conduct a week-long field observation, followed by the implementation of appropriate measures to ensure safer and more accessible birthing options for women,” said health department official.
